It was simply a matter of time: Russian forces have seemingly succeeded in destroying an American Abrams tank in Ukraine for the first time. Since Monday noon, videos have been circulating on X, formerly known as Twitter, showing a burning Abrams tank, allegedly in the region around the recently captured city of Avdiivka, in the Donetsk Oblast. The video appears to be a compilation of two clips. The first clip is supposedly from a Russian reconnaissance drone and shows an Abrams advancing rapidly along a road. The following sequence shows a fiercely burning wreck that resembles the outline of a US-produced tank. However, so far, no footage of the actual hit has appeared.
