Theft and Escape

Two vehicles were stolen from a barn of Shaw Farm, which is part of the royal estate. The intruders stole a black Isuzu pick-up and a red quad bike, then fled towards Old Windsor/Datchet, as reported by the police. In their escape attempt, the perpetrators also destroyed a security gate, which is the closest exit to Adelaide Cottage. A source told "The Sun": "They must have known that the vehicles were stored there before they broke in, and they knew the best time to make their getaway without getting caught."

Investigations and Memories of Past Incidents

So far, no arrests have been made and the investigations are ongoing. This break-in brings back memories of the notorious incident in 1982, when unemployed Michael Fagan gained access to Buckingham Palace and came alarmingly close to the then 56-year-old Queen Elisabeth II. As in the current case at Windsor Castle, the Queen maintained her composure and was able to defuse the situation before help arrived. The recent break-in leaves an uneasy feeling with everyone responsible for the safety of the royal family.
