Teri Garr's broad smile and unique charisma earned her roles in further successes like "Oh God!", where she played alongside George Burns and John Denver, and as the wife of Michael Keaton in "Mr. Mom". In "Tootsie", she excelled as the girlfriend who ultimately lost out to Jessica Lange when Dustin Hoffman's character fell in love with her. However, in the 80s, Garr started to feel an increasing discomfort – a "small beep or ticking" in her right leg which also extended to her arm. Only in 1999, when the symptoms became undeniable, did she seek medical advice and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Fearful of unemployment, she kept her illness a secret for three years but spoke openly about it in 2003 when she noticed that the role offers did not dry up despite her condition. She even appeared in the 90s series "Friends" as the mother of Lisa Kudrow's character.
Teri Garr leaves behind a daughter, Molly, and a grandson, Tyryn, who mourn with her fans and colleagues for a great artist and inspiring personality.
