The Irish budget airline Ryanair is one of Boeing's most significant customers outside the US. However, a multibillion-dollar bulk order now hangs in the balance: The company's CEO, Michael O'Leary, is openly threatening to cancel an order for 330 Boeing 737 MAX – a deal worth around 30 billion US dollars. The trigger for the threat is possible tariffs that US President Donald Trump has announced. Should these indeed be implemented and lead to a noticeable increase in the price of Boeing exports, Ryanair is considering revising its orders. In a letter to high-ranking US representatives, O’Leary states: "If these tariffs significantly affect the price, we will reassess our order position with Boeing - and possibly also place orders elsewhere."
