Hyundai has taken a bold step with the fifth generation Santa Fe - and not just in design. This SUV aims to be more than just a family car; it wants to conquer the throne of the popular VW Tiguan and other competitors. But can the Santa Fe really make the leap to the top? With its edgy, robust aesthetic and cutting-edge technology, it is undoubtedly a serious competitor. However, whether its polarizing design and price will convince the masses remains to be seen. Here's the report and all the images:

A New Face: Robust, Edgy, and Distinctive

The new Santa Fe is a statement on wheels. The previously pleasing shapes have been replaced by an edgy, robust aesthetic that strongly reminds of the Land Rover Defender. The front part is dominated by a distinctive radiator grille, flanked by H-shaped headlights, creating a striking appearance. While this combination impresses at first glance, it could also polarize - a real eye-catcher, but not to everyone's taste. The rear, however, seems less coherent compared to the front. The low-positioned H-shaped tail lights recall body shapes from the 1980s, and may irritate some fans of modern designs. Nonetheless, the Santa Fe is a vehicle that does not hide - it wants to be seen.

Luxury Meets Functionality: The Interior of the Santa Fe

Inside, Hyundai opts for a horizontal line design that exudes peace and spaciousness. High-quality materials and thoughtful ergonomics make the interior a place of relaxation. Particularly impressive is the generous amount of space, especially in the rear. Whether family or outdoor adventurers - everyone will find enough room here. The trunk volume varies between 634 and 725 liters depending on the seat configuration, providing sufficient storage space for luggage, sports equipment or shopping. A digital cockpit and a central touchscreen underline the modern character of the interior. Hyundai thus shows that technology and comfort can go hand in hand.

Powertrain: Hybrid is Trump

In Switzerland, the Santa Fe is offered exclusively with electrified powertrains. Customers can choose between two variants: 1. 1.6 T-GDI Full Hybrid: With a system output of 215 hp, this engine offers efficiency and performance in one.

2. 1.6 T-GDI Plug-in Hybrid: The stronger sibling delivers 253 hp and allows a purely electric range of around 69 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. Both models come standard with the intelligent all-wheel drive (HTRAC), which guarantees optimal traction and driving stability - whether on wet roads or rough terrain.

Strengths and Weaknesses at a Glance

Strengths:

Generous space: More space for passengers and luggage than many competitors. Extensive equipment: Modern assistance systems, connectivity features, and a high-quality infotainment system come as standard.

Efficient powertrain technology: The hybrid variants reduce fuel consumption and emissions. All-wheel drive: The HTRAC ensures optimal traction and safety.
