A severe storm has caused significant damage in a popular tourist region. One woman died, two other people were seriously injured, and 19 people suffered minor injuries. Here's everything we know so far:
The Portuguese weather service believes that the storm was a tornado, as reported by the state news agency Lusa. However, further investigations are needed to confirm this unequivocally. The situation was particularly dramatic at a campsite where one person was killed and another person was seriously injured. According to Lusa, another person severely injured was a hotel guest. Terrifying images were seen on state television RTP: cars with shattered windows, torn branches and severely damaged buildings bear witness to the storm's violence. The damages are enormous, and many people are in shock. The authorities are working intensively to manage the situation and support those affected. However, it is still unclear whether there were additional helpers or accomplices who may have contributed to the devastation.
