The development on 8 December could pave the way for Harry to bring his children, who are growing up in California, to the UK to reunite them with his father, King Charles.
Harry saw his father for the first time in 19 months when he visited the UK in September – which was seen as a ‘big step’ in their estrangement, which had been exacerbated by the security issue.
Full security surveillance was lifted after Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties in 2020. The prince lost an appeal in May. During that case, it emerged that he and Meghan, 44, and the family had not received an assessment since 2019.
In October, he wrote to the British Minister for Policing and Crime Prevention, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, to personally request assistance.
