Earlier in the month the prince was seen in Birmingham, enthusiastically supporting Aston Villa as they beat Nottingham Forest in the Europa League semifinal to reach the May 20 final in Istanbul. The day after that outing he and the Princess of Wales appeared at a Buckingham Palace garden party, where William admitted to having "bags under the eyes" after his late night, according to The Telegraph.

Family cheers and quirky rituals

William has shared his love of football with his three children — Prince George (12), Princess Charlotte (11) and Prince Louis (8). Kate said the kids wanted to attend the Thursday night match but were allowed to stay up and watch on TV; she noted the family gets very loud, "even Louis." William has also revealed small superstitions at home, telling The Sun in March 2025 that he moves around the house and repositions the children when the team is struggling, hoping to change their luck.
