Footage shared to X shows Mary gasping when Christian approached, then embracing him after he hugged his father and spoke with fellow officers — a plainly proud moment for the royal family.

The next chapter in his service

Crown Prince Christian was appointed second lieutenant alongside about 120 new officers after beginning lieutenant training in August 2025. He will continue with the Royal Life Guards as a platoon leader at the Guards Barracks in Høvelte, responsible for training and daily management of soldiers, the Danish Royal House said. Christian also began his military service at the same base in February 2025, and the palace noted Princess Isabella will start her own training at the Guard Hussar Barracks in Slagelse this August.
