Everyday relics from across the years

Items recovered include betting slips, glass bottles, cigarette cartons and boots. Investigators found a newspaper fragment with a West End theatre listing from the Evening Standard dated Nov. 27, 1889, and a brick-embedded ticket for a Royal Household Social Club whist drive held at the palace on April 14, 1949. Finds linked to Queen Elizabeth II's reign include 1957 Littlewoods football pool slips, a 1966 Daily Express article about the Great Train Robbers, a circa-1980s Benson and Hedges box and a 1977 Silver Jubilee reception schedule outlining guest placement and the monarch's planned circulation of the room.
